    There’s probably a smaller proportion of overwritten drek then you’re thinking — if you’re anything like me, there’s probably a period in the writing process when you know the piece too well and hate it with the fire of a thousand suns. I’d say fix a couple of the stories that you hate less, write some new things for inspiration, and leave the stuff you really don’t like to marinate for a while until you’ve got a bit more perspective.

    [says the person who’s never written a story in her adult life, and whose only regular writing experience is sermons. So you should probably disregard what I say.]

      I don’t know about the drek. I was really into weird adjectives last year, so now I have to strip them all away.

      Plus sermons are like writing a short story every week. I think I’d go mad trying to do that. You’re probably a more practiced writer than me by this point 🙂
